On 31 March 1979, Dire Straits’ ‘Communiqué Tour’ stopped at San Francisco’s Old Waldorf for a concert that was broadcast on the radio at the time. From that source, which has already been used in the past for some CD prints, this unofficial LP has been obtained, which retrieves nine of the twelve songs played that night: Mark Knopfler (vocals and lead guitar), David Knopfler (guitar and backing vocals), John Illsley (bass and backing vocals), Pick Withers (drums) and adjunct member Joop de Korte (percussion) perform three tracks from the new album and four from the debut (including “Sultans Of Swing”), while ‘What’s The Matter Baby’ (co-written by the two Knopfler brothers) and ‘Eastbound Train’ (B-side of the same ‘Sultans Of Swing’ on 45 rpm) were also part of the band’s very first repertoire.
