Ironhand Records is proud to present anothe gems of East-meets-West underground music: “Mustafa Kuş & Grup İmece – Meçhul”.
Originally released during a remarkably creative period between 1980 and 1985, Meçhul stands as a defining testament to the vibrant Turkish live music scene in Germany. Beginning in 1976—alongside contemporaries like Derdiyoklar—Mustafa Kuş and Grup İmece brought an entirely fresh, uncharted groove to European stages, seamlessly weaving traditional Anatolian folk adaptations with pioneering original compositions.
Driven by a groovy, bass-heavy rhythm section, the sound of Meçhul is an adventurous fusion of space disco rock, Afro-rock, ska, reggae, jazz, and progressive rock. The album is packed with monstrous Moog and Hammond organ solos, cool jazz- and funk-infused saxophone lines, and creative stereo panning that creates a deeply immersive listening experience. Thanks to the genius of Mustafa Kuş and his partners in crime, these jazzy and progressive passages tie the entire work into a deeply satisfying sonic journey.
Now reissued by Ironhand Records, this essential piece of Anatolian-European crossover history is available as a strictly limited one-time pressing of 500 copies on Green Smoke Vinyl.
A true masterpiece of psychedelic, jazz-funk, and global fusion—ready to spin once again.
