Three years after their last album, the band is releasing their fifth record, Hard Times, a work filled with emotion and energy that showcases their ongoing artistic exploration and ambition to reach “something more” with each new project. Inspired by the rich Afro-American sounds of the ’60s and ’70s, The Excitements offer a powerful fusion of R&B, Soul, Funk, and Jazz, paying homage to that golden era of music while still sounding fresh and contemporary. This album takes their love for these genres to the next level, solidifying their unique style and delivering some of their most accomplished compositions.
Hard Times is mainly composed of original tracks, but it also includes a surprising and electrifying cover of My Life’s Right by Chris Bell from the legendary band Big Star. The Excitements have transformed this song into a powerful and vibrant Soul number that resonates with their signature energetic style.
