This album is remarkably important. It stands as a major landmark in the development of American Blues music and the influences that spread out from it to countless musicians around the world. In 2011 Rolling Stone magazine voted it the 153rd Greatest Album of all time, and Howlin’ Wolf as the 54th Greatest Artist of all time. Not bad for a farmer musician who was already in his forties when he recorded the songs on this album.
